According to one embodiment of the present invention, a handheld compact spectrometer for optical coherence tomography (OCT) comprises: a spectrometer optical module; a sensor module coupled to one side of the spectrometer optical module and including a sensor converting light received from the spectrometer optical module into an electrical signal; and a connector configured to supply a control signal and power signal received from other circuit outside the spectrometer to the sensor board and transmit a signal received from the sensor board to the other circuit outside the spectrometer. The sensor board is packaged with the spectrometer optical module. The sensor is not embedded in or protrudes from a surface of the sensor board. A light receiving unit of the sensor is configured to face the inside of the packaged component to collect light from the spectrometer optical module.
