Disclosed is a color processing method in displaying a video image on a display device. The method comprises the steps of: retrieving a spectral power distribution associated with at least one group of light elements of a display device, wherein the group of light elements displays a color component of a video image to be displayed; computing, in a range of the spectral power distribution, called range of noxiousness, a noxiousness value representative of the noxiousness of light emitted by the group of light elements of the display device; comparing the noxiousness value to a limitation value of noxiousness; and modifying content of an image or modifying display control parameters of the display device such that the noxiousness value becomes less than the limitation value if the noxiousness value is greater than the limitation value.
