According to an embodiment of the present invention, a bus fare payment method allows a user of a portable terminal to use the portable terminal to pay a bus ride fare. The bus fare payment method comprises: an alighting schedule information receiving step of receiving alighting schedule information which is information related to bus alighting of the user from the portable terminal; a bus location information receiving step of receiving target bus location information which is information related to the location of a target bus which is a bus in which the user rides if the alighting schedule information is received; a portable terminal location information receiving step of receiving portable terminal location information which is information related to the location of the portable terminal transmitting the alighting schedule information if the alighting schedule information is received; and an alighting information generating step of generating normal alighting information which is alighting information allowing the user to pay a bus fare by a predetermined first method or abnormal alighting information which is alighting information allowing the user to pay the bus fare by a predetermined second method based on the target bus location information and the portable terminal location information.
