The present invention relates to a combination of an H3 antagonist and an antidepressant, which exhibits synergistic arousal promoting activity. By the present invention, it is found that the combination of the H3 antagonist and the antidepressant selected from a noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor results in unexpected tremendous increase in silent awakening and decrease in REM sleep.
