The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating myocardial fibrosis comprising a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor (DPP4i) as an active component, wherein the DPP4i inhibits DPP4 activity in blood and heart, inhibits expression of TGF-β1 and phosphorylation of Smad2/3, and inhibits expression of collagen type I and type III to suppress myocardial fibrosis induced by high fat diet or obesity, thereby being able to be usefully used for preventing or treating myocardial fibrosis.
