Signaling and use of virtual cell identification for SFN-type transmissions

Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for signaling and using one or more virtual cell identifications (V-cell IDs) for single frequency network (SFN) -type transmissions in a wireless communication system. Methods, computer readable media, and apparatus are provided. In an aspect, the method may include performing, by the user equipment (UE), a cell search to obtain a cell ID, and decoding the message based on the cell ID by the UE, wherein the message is A master information block (MIB). The method may further include identifying, by the UE, the virtual cell ID used for the SFN-type transmission based on the information decoded from the message. The techniques described herein may be applied to different communication technologies, including fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) communication technologies.
