According to various embodiments, provided is an electronic device which comprises: a connector including one or more signal terminals for communicating with an external electronic device; a processor electrically connected with the connector; and a memory electrically connected to the processor. When the memory is executed, the memory can store instructions of allowing the processor to check the connection with the external electronic device through the connector, when connected with the external electronic device through the connector, allowing the processor to receive one or more power information which can be supported by the external electronic device from the external electronic device, and allowing the processor to identify the external electronic device based on at least a part of the one or more power information.
