Detection of PAR in CSF in Patients with Parkinson's Disease

Poly (ADP-ribose) (PAR) is a protein involved in many neurodegenerative disease states, including Parkinson's disease (PD). To date, no custom laboratory tests have been developed for diagnosing, evaluating or monitoring patients suffering from PD. Novel methods are disclosed herein for assessing the concentration of PAR in a patient's cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and correlating the concentration with the medical condition of a PD patient. Also described is the use of PAR as a biomarker for PD.
