Disclosed are a metamaterial-based reflector, an optical cavity structure including the same, and a vertical cavity surface emitting laser, capable of easily controlling the characteristics of light. The metamaterial-based reflector may comprise: a first metamaterial layer including an array of a plurality of first nanostructures; and a second metamaterial layer disposed on the first metamaterial layer and including an array of a plurality of second nanostructures. An arrangement direction and arrangement method of the second nanostructures may be different from an arrangement direction and arrangement method of the first nanostructures. The first nanostructures may be arranged alongside each other in a first direction, and the second nanostructures may be arranged in a different direction from the first direction, or the arrangement direction of the second nanostructures may be changed depending on an area.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
