The present invention provides a bus-only lane violation vehicle control system using an infrared camera and infrared lighting and a method thereof which automatically detect the number of people in a vehicle and a license plate of the vehicle driving on a bus-only lane to distinguish a case where the number of people in a van for nine or more people is lower than six people to accurately control the status of a bus-only lane violation, install an infrared camera and infrared lighting with the same frequency band of near-infrared light on the bus-only lane to automatically detect the number of people in the vehicle and the license plate of the vehicle without being affected by weather such as fog, vehicle window tinting, and day and night illumination to control the status of a bus-only lane violation, and accurately control the status of a bus-only lane violation to reduce violation rates of bus-only lanes which reduce the volume of traffic on bus-only lanes, increase passage speeds of bus-only lanes, and increase the number of transported people.
