An electronic device comprises: a camera; a light-emitting module including one or more light-emitting bodies; a memory; and a processor, wherein the processor may be configured to: by using the light-emitting module, project a structured light corresponding to a designated structured light pattern onto an external object, wherein the designated structured light pattern includes a plurality of first polygons distributed according to a designated rule, and a plurality of second polygons connecting at least a portion of the plurality of first polygons on the basis of a designated repetitive lattice pattern; by using the camera, obtain an image formed as the structured light is reflected by the external object; on the basis of the obtained image, confirms the designated repetitive lattice pattern and at least a portion of the first polygons; on the basis of the confirmed designated repetitive lattice pattern and at least a portion of the first polygons, restores an unconfirmed another portion of the first polygons; and on the basis of locations of the at least portion of the first polygons and the restored another portion of the first polygons, generates depth information with respect to the external object.
