The present invention relates to a low melting point polyester resin and to a sheath-core type polyester composite fiber using the same and, more specifically, to a low melting point polyester resin with improved weldability, and to a method for producing a polyester composite fiber with excellent flexural strength using the same. The method comprises the steps of: a) performing esterification reaction; b) producing low melting point polyester; and c) producing a sheath-core type composite fiber.
