The present invention relates to a TV program information providing system using augmented reality and a TV program information providing method thereof which can provide program information currently being broadcast on a TV in augmented reality. The TV program information providing system using augmented reality comprises: a broadcast receiver to display a received broadcast program on a screen; a mobile terminal to scan the screen of the broadcast receiver by a camera and extract search information from the scanned screen of the broadcast receiver; and an augmented reality TV server to acquire broadcast program information based on the extracted search information to process the broadcast program information to realize the broadcast program information in augmented reality. The mobile terminal activates the camera if a broadcast program information search request is received to scan the screen of the broadcast receiver, extracts search information from the scanned screen of the broadcast receiver to transmit the search information to the augmented reality TV server, and displays program information processed in augmented reality around the scanned screen of the broadcast receiver in augmented reality by the camera if the program information is received from the augmented reality TV server.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
