An embodiment of the present invention provides a food composition for preventing or treating melanoma or a food composition for alleviating melanoma which contains a Cordyceps militaris extract or a fraction thereof as an active component. Specifically, the Cordyceps militaris extract or the fraction thereof contains cordycepin and exhibits an anticancer effect on melanoma through apoptosis of melanoma cells.
