The present invention relates to a manufacturing method of biochar for promoting crop growth, and a fertilizer composition comprising the biochar as an active ingredient. More specifically, the present invention relates to a biochar for promoting crop growth and a fertilizer composition comprising the biochar as an active ingredient, wherein the biochar is produced by thermally decomposing pulverized eucalyptus under an anoxic condition. As described above, the fertilizer composition comprising, as an active ingredient, the biochar produced by thermally decomposing eucalyptus under an anoxic condition according to the present invention has an excellent effect of promoting crop rooting and growth, and thus can be easily used as a natural fertilizer component. In addition, the fertilizer composition of the present invention, which comprises a biochar produced through a carbonization process, is not only very safe for humans and animals, but also excellent in stability.
