- Adaptive traffic management system and method based on device-media context information matching in home network

Disclosed are an adaptive traffic management system based on terminal-media context information matching in a home network and a method thereof. The system recognizes a terminal existing in the home network by using a service searching technology and collects context information of each terminal. A home gateway limits the quality of transmitted contents (the bit rate of video data) by comparing the collected context information to media information stored by a content server. To this end, the present system comprises: a home gateway which classifies the traffic of each terminal to control priority-based packet scheduling and the traffic; an HTTP server which stores contents; and an HTTP client which receives and plays back the contents requested to the HTTP server by means of the home gateway. In addition, the home gateway classifies each transmitted traffic into each class by using service and payload information, and adaptively allots a bandwidth to each terminal in accordance with the feature of the classified class to perform packet-scheduling upon the transmitted packet based on the priority, thereby providing optimal quality of service (QoS) to a user terminal.
