Augmented reality with limited visibility and key codes to implement data capture and transmission compliance

The pointing direction of the video camera is subject to field descriptor operation to capture the video signal in the camera''s field of view at the arm''s length from the technician, and remote-generated hand gestures for manipulation of the object are described for manipulation on the object. In an AR environment overlaid on a video signal to indicate, customer-defined key codes and FOV restrictions are used to exclude portions of the scene for data capture and transmission compliance. If the video camera pointing direction does not satisfy the alignment condition for the marker in the scene, the camera is controlled to exclude at least a portion of the camera FOV that lies outside the user-defined acceptable FOV from capture in the video signal. The key code allows the technician to control FOV exclusion, thereby protecting the technician from capturing and/or transmitting data in scenes that may violate customer or national policy or legal requirements.
