The present invention relates to a medium composition for increasing the amount of selenium in a plant comprising 70% basalt and 30% pearlite in a weight ratio, and a method for increasing the amount of selenium in the plant by growing the plant in the medium. As can be seen through the present invention, when the plant was cultivated through the medium of the present invention, there was an effect that the amount of selenium and the antioxidant activity in the plant were increased compared to other mediums.
