A dispersion having excellent heat ray shielding properties and exhibiting long-term high temperature stability, and a dispersion for preparing the dispersion are provided. As a dispersion liquid containing a liquid medium, absorbent fine particles dispersed in the medium, and a phosphorous acid ester-based compound, the absorbent fine particles are from tungsten oxide fine particles represented by the general formula WyOz and composite tungsten oxide fine particles represented by the general formula MxWyOz. It is one or more oxide fine particles selected, and the phosphorous acid ester-based compound is a phosphorous acid ester-based compound represented by the following predetermined chemical formula, and the amount of the phosphorous acid ester-based compound added is 500 to 100 parts by mass of the absorbent fine particles. An absorbent fine particle dispersion having a mass of more than 50000 parts by mass or less is provided.
