Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication, and more particularly, to methods and apparatus for rate-matching a stream of bits encoded using polar codes. The exemplary method generally includes determining, based on the time of transmission, a redundancy version (RV) of data to be transmitted in the transmission and transmitting the determined RV of data over the wireless medium at that time.
