Systems and methods are described herein for improving the detection of a feedback signal in an optical ranging and detection system. This system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The first pulse sequence may be encoded with an anti-spoofing signature and transmitted as a laser beam. A feedback signal comprising the second pulse sequence can be received by the receiver, and an anti-spoofing signature is extracted from the second pulse sequence. Based on the extraction, if the first and second pulse sequences match, the receiver outputs feedback signal data. Based on the extraction, if the first and second pulse sequences do not match, the feedback signal is ignored. The system can dynamically change the anti-spoofing signature for subsequent pulse sequences. Additionally, the first pulse sequence can be randomized relatively to the preceding pulse sequence.
