In part, characterize the skin microbiome and metabolites of populations of individuals that are prone to bite as well as naturally resistant to bites from vampire arthropods, and the microbial taxa most associated with insect control (and their associated metabolic pathways) And to detect one or more repellent-producing enzymatic pathways by targeting/activating those pathways with molecular substrates that can generate repellent molecules in situ upon metabolism and promote migration to more naturally repellent microbiome compositions.
