An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method for improving image quality of ultra-high resolution image contents, wherein an image quality improvement processing device performs correction to improve image quality of ultra-high resolution image contents. To this end, the present method may comprise: an original image analysis step that image information including the resolution of an original image is analyzed; an expanded resolution image generating step that an expanded resolution image is generated by expanding the resolution of the original image by considering the image information of the original image; a phased color correction process which corrects the color of each pixel of the expanded resolution image by phase so as to reach the color of each pixel of the original image; a chromatic aberration removing step that chromatic aberration is removed from an edge portion of the expanded resolution image which has undergone the color correction by phase; a sharpness correction step that sharpness is corrected in the expanded resolution image from which the chromatic aberration at the edge portion is removed; a definition correction step that definition is corrected to reach a reference definition value predetermined with respect to the expanded resolution image which has undergone the sharpness correction; and a banding phenomenon removing step that a banding phenomenon of a strip shape, which is caused by a technical defect or error of an image filming device or the deviation of a lens, is removed with respect to the expanded resolution image which has undergone the sharpness and definition correction.
