According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method of assembling permanent magnets in a rotor for reducing cogging torque slot harmonic components of a permanent magnet motor includes: (a) measuring the strength of each magnet; (b) arbitrarily selecting an initial position in the rotor of each magnet; (c) reselecting the positions of the magnets until the deviations in the strengths of the magnets cancel each other out; And (d) assembling the magnets to the rotor by assembling the magnets to the rotor to a final predetermined position, applying the placement conditions to offset the deviation of each permanent magnet to each other. The torque ripple characteristic can be improved by reducing the cogging torque slot harmonic component caused by the variation of the strength of the permanent magnets.
