One embodiment of the present invention presents a technique for mitigating drift in audiovisual assets. This technique involves determining that the editing associated with the presentation timeline is within the boundaries of the video frame. The technique further includes calculating a time drift associated with the edit, where the time drift includes the duration of time between the border of the video frame and the edit. The technique further includes determining whether to include the video frame in the presentation timeline based on the time drift and the accumulated time drift associated with the presentation timeline.
