The present invention relates to a phase detector which detects a phase difference between a light signal and a microwave signal generated through a laser. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a phase detector comprises: a 3x3 coupler configured to form loops for two different ports, advance a first optical signal and a second optical signal in opposite directions of the loop, respectively, to interfere with a modulated signal whose phase is modulated by the microwave signal input to the loop, and outputs a first optical interference signal and a second optical interference signal generated by the interference; and a balance light detector for detecting an electrical signal corresponding to a timing error between the optical signal and the microwave signal by converting information on the intensity difference between the first optical interference signal and the second optical interference signal output from the 3x3 coupler into an electrical signal.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
