The present invention relates to a composition for treating, alleviating, or preventing skin pigmentation disorders or symptoms, or a skin-lightening composition, comprising an extract of Dendropanax morbifera Lev. leaves and novel active ingredients isolated therefrom, as effective components. The extract of the present invention and the novel active ingredients isolated therefrom exhibit excellent effects in inhibiting melanogenesis and inhibiting the expression of melanogenesis-related proteins (MITF, Tyrosinase, TRP-1, and TRP-2) in melanoma. Accordingly, the extract of the present invention and the novel active ingredients isolated therefrom may be beneficially used as a cosmetic composition for preventing or treating various skin pigmentation disorders including hyperpigmentation.
