FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to haematology, and can be used for determining erythrocyte deformability. For this purpose, the erythrocyte suspension is placed into the instrument, where shear stress of 190–210 dynes/cm is created. After 20 s 1.0 ml of 0.5 % glutaraldehyde solution is added to the suspension. After 10 s, cylinder rotation is stopped. Erythrocytes are placed in the field of vision of the light microscope and an image is obtained using a digital camera. It is processed using computer vision algorithms. Erythrocytes elongated in the shear flow are modelled as an ellipse. To assess deformability of each erythrocyte, deformability coefficient and elongation coefficient are calculated. For the image as a whole, the average value of the deformability factor, the dispersion, the asymmetry coefficient, the erythrocyte distribution by deformability, erythrocyte deformability in %, the number of maximally elongated cells in % are calculated.;EFFECT: invention increases accuracy of determination and analysis of quantitative characteristics of erythrocyte deformability.;1 cl, 2 dwg, 2 ex
