FIELD: chemical or physical processes.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 1,3-diethyl-2-(2-methylhydrazinylidene)propanedioate by reacting 2-halogen-substituted diethyl malonate with methylhydrazine or a salt thereof, where the method is carried out in a solvent selected from a group consisting of alcohol, acetonitrile and any mixtures thereof, in the temperature range of 10 to 80 °C, optionally in the presence of an acid catalyst. Invention also relates to another version of the method of producing 1,3-diethyl-2-(2-methylhydrazinylidene)propanedioate.;EFFECT: disclosed is a novel method of producing 1,3-diethyl-2-(2-methylhydrazinylidene)propanedioate, which avoids undesirable hazardous oxidation and a complex side reaction.;10 cl, 4 ex
