FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a potassium permanganate-containing composition for use as an oxidant in demercurization using hydrochloric acid in order to chemically remove mercury from residential or industrial premises. Composition contains a mixture of potassium permanganate crystals in amount of 1–60 wt% and filler – the rest.
