Sole for a shoe (1400; 1500), in particular a sports shoe, comprising: a. a damping element (110; 1410; 1510; 1630; 1730) which has randomly arranged particles (1635; 1735) made of an expanded material, b. a control element (130; 1450; 1540; 1620; 1720; 1800a-d) that has no expanded material, c. wherein the control element (130; 1450; 1540; 1620; 1720; 1800a-d) shear movements in a first region of the damping element (110; 1410; 1510; 1630; 1730) compared to shear movements in a second region of the damping element (110; 1410 ; 1510; 1630; 1730) decreased.
