A metal material is produced by a spraying process, in which metal or a metal alloy is applied to a surface or into a cavity (10b) of a base body (10), which can be detached from the base body (10) by means of water. In a method for producing a component (50), a base body (10) is provided and a metallic material (20) is applied to a surface or into a cavity (10b) of the base body (10) using a spraying method. The metallic material (20) is coated with a cover layer (30). The metallic material (20) is then dissolved or removed using water, the cover layer (30) remaining. A semifinished product and a component with cavities (10b), in particular for aerospace, are made with the metallic material (20).
