Method and device for monitoring the position of a godet

Godets are known for the purpose of guiding synthetic filaments. Said godets can be heated or designed without heating, in order for example to draw the filaments or subject them to heat treatment. For this purpose, a lateral godet surface is driven by means of a shaft which is mounted, inter alia, axially. Wear to said bearings often results in secondary damage, which requires a disproportionately high level of outlay in order to be eliminated. This secondary damage is avoided according to the invention by virtue of axial displacement of the shaft being monitored by means of a sensor device. It is thus possible for a bearing to be changed over at an optimum point in time, neither - on a preventive basis - too early, before the possible use period has been reached, nor too late, when other components have already been affected. The invention is particularly well-suited for use in godets which rotate very quickly and are used, for example, in systems for the production of partially or fully drawn threads for textile or technical application purposes.
