The invention relates to a heat reservoir element (30) for decentralised ventilation systems, said element being designed to be arranged in a wall passage that receives a ventilation device and defines a longitudinal axis. One end face of the heat reservoir element (30) adjoins a reversibly controllable axial fan (50) and the other end face adjoins a ceramic secondary heat reservoir element (52). The heat reservoir element (30) has simultaneously flow homogenising and heat storage characteristics, thus allowing a reduction in the axial installation length of a ventilation device containing said heat reservoir element (30).
