Ultrasound Intelligent Stack and Method of Controlling an Ultrasound System Having an Ultrasound Intelligent Stack

An ultrasound system has an ultrasound stack that is excited by a power supply. The ultrasonic stack has a large number of components, including an ultrasonic converter, an amplifier and an ultrasonic sonotrode. A method for controlling the ultrasound system with the power supply comprises, after one of the components of the ultrasound stack has been replaced by a replacement component, inputting an amplitude parameter of the replacement component into the power supply, using the power supply to determine an amplitude of an AC excitation signal at which the ultrasound converter is to be excited, based on amplitude parameters of the components including the amplitude parameters of each substitute component. The power supply then sets the amplitude of the AC excitation signal to that particular amplitude.
