The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for mitigating or eliminating the effectiveness of a side-channel attack, such as one or more classes of an attack commonly known as a Specter. Novel command prefixes and, in certain embodiments, one or more corresponding command prefix parameters can be provided to enforce serialized execution order for certain commands without serializing an entire command flow, thereby improving performance and mitigation reliability compared to existing solutions. In addition, an improved mitigation of such attacks is provided by randomizing both the execution jump history and the source address of each vulnerable indirect jump, thereby eliminating the conditions required for such attacks.
