A vehicle seat system includes a backrest. There is a seat cushion near the backrest. The seat cushion includes: a first side configured upward to support an adult occupant; and a second side that is opposite to the first side. The second side is configured when directed upward to carry a child occupant and includes: an elevated surface positioned near the backrest; and a lower height area in front of the raised area at a lower height than the raised area when the second side faces upward. The seat cushion is detachable and rotatable to configure the seat cushion either with the first side or with the second side up.
