This disclosure provides a hybrid electric vehicle with parking assistant. A hybrid vehicle includes an automated parking function. A controller restarts the engine upon activation of the automated parking function in a situation where normal engine start control would have started the engine during the parking maneuver. This avoids engine starts during the parking process.
