An exhaust burner assembly 116 includes a body 202, an inlet opening 214, an outlet opening 220, a first chamber 228, a second chamber 230, and an intermediate opening 232. The exhaust burner assembly 116 further includes a perforated tube 238 that extends between the first chamber 228 and the second Chamber 230 is arranged, a fluid injector 122, which is designed to deliver a combustible mixture, and an ignition device 124, which is designed to ignite the combustible mixture to produce combustion products. The perforated tube 238 allows at least a portion of the exhaust gas to flow therethrough from the first chamber 228 to the second chamber 230 so that the exhaust gas exiting the outlet opening 220 is at a higher temperature than the exhaust gas entering through the inlet opening 214.
