A method for product guidance in a filling plant for glass bottles and a corresponding production plant are described. Accordingly, empties parameters are automatically measured for filling empty bottles made of glass. Furthermore, initial data for filling a liquid product into the empty bottles are obtained and stored. Furthermore, full product parameters are measured when filling full bottles made from the empty bottles, whereby machine error states that occur especially during filling are automatically determined, and the resultant data obtained from the filling are saved and assigned individually to the empty bottles. Furthermore, one calculates at least one rejection criterion subsequently applicable in the production operation for the decision on rejecting defective empty bottles or full bottles on the basis of a data analysis of the stored initial data and result data. By also updating the calculation of the rejection criterion, taking into account initial data and result data gained in production, the product quality can be continuously improved by processing an increasing amount of data in the sense of self-optimization and the frequency of production failures can be reduced.
