Disclosed is a kitchen appliance, preferably a hand-held kitchen appliance, for food processing, which has a drive shaft which is rotatably mounted and can be operatively connected to a motor of the kitchen appliance, a working part, preferably with a blade, which is provided on the drive shaft, a protective hood with several recesses in Circumferential direction, which surrounds the working part in the circumferential direction of the rotation of the drive shaft and has an opening in the axial direction of the drive shaft, and a preferably cylindrical accessory element that can be removed and attached from the protective hood without tools. The accessory element has a jacket body with a first axial end face and with a second, opposite axial end face remote from the protective hood, and the protective hood, through cooperation with the accessory element, defines a cavity closed in the circumferential direction of the protective hood for processing food.
