METHOD AND PLANT FOR THE TREATMENT OF RESIDUAL HOUSEHOLD WASTE

The invention relates to a process for treating residual household waste which makes it possible to obtain a diversion rate greater than or equal to 80% by producing solid recovered fuels and compost, and by extracting glass, metals and recyclable plastics. The method is essentially characterized in that it includes: - a first treatment phase comprising a particle size sorting step, without prior grinding, using at least one rotary double mesh screen; this equipment has at its head a device making it possible to open all of the containers enclosing residual household waste; the double mesh rotary screen separates the fractions, according to their native particle size, into three streams, - a second processing phase, specific to each of the three streams from the first phase and composed of several stages, allowing the extraction of recyclable products , to produce compost and to isolate the products used as a basis for the manufacture of solid recovered fuels, - a third phase of treatment, composed of several stages, consisting in producing solid recovered fuels. The invention also relates to an installation for implementing such a method. The invention can be used industrially to design, size and build a residual household waste treatment plant as may be required by a local authority in order to improve its results in terms of prevention and management of its waste.
