Iterative process, implemented by computer, of reconstruction of the topology of a cable network comprising the steps of: - Obtaining (501) a time reflectogram measured Rm from a signal previously injected into the cable network, - Simulate (502) initially a plurality of cable network hypotheses (Hi, j), then iterate iteratively the following steps: - Obtain (503), for each simulated cable network hypothesis (Hi, j), a time reflectogram associated simulated Ri, j, - Evaluate (504), for each hypothesis of simulated cable network (Hi, j), an error criterion E (Ri, j-Rm) between the measured time reflectogram Rm and the simulated time reflectogram Ri, j, - Apply (506) to said simulated cable networks an optimization algorithm having the function of producing a plurality of modified cable networks having globally a reduced error criterion E (Ri, j-Rm), - Replace (507) said networks ux of cables simulated from the previous iteration by said cable networks modified for the next iteration.
