Device for timing the performances of an athlete (skier, snowboarder ...), during a round in a training course or competition indicated by stakes (example: slalom, giant slalom, super giant, downhill, ski-cross ...). The device according to the invention makes it possible to time the performance of an athlete during his descent in a training or competition track at the passage of each stake indicating the course. The system consists of one or more devices capable of detecting the instant when an athlete is at the minimum distance from a stake. To do this, use one or more accelerometers placed in the device (s) worn by the athlete. A certain type of acceleration will then indicate contact with a stake. The device (s) worn by the athlete may act according to one of the following methods: a) analyze and visualize the data collected themselves b) measure the times themselves, then pass them by radio to another device for analysis and data visualization c) indicate in real time via radio to another device the detection of contact with a stake. The system thus designed makes it possible to eliminate the problems common to the devices currently available. a) the high price b) the danger of theft from fixed installations c) the installation time of the system d) the difficulty of being used by an athlete alone e) crampedness of the information obtained.
