The invention relates to a method for stabilizing the mechanical properties of an aluminum alloy part of the 2000 series of grade 2x19. This process includes a step of heat treatment of the part at a temperature between 180 and 220 ° C for a period between 80 and 500 hours. The part thus treated can be used at a temperature up to 200 ° C without reducing its mechanical properties, in particular in an aircraft or a space vehicle.
