The subject of the invention is a jig (9) for positioning a ball joint (4a) inside a housing (3) for mounting a tool on an arm fitted to a gripping head for a manipulator. The housing (3) is provided with a fixing member for its mounting on the tool and the ball joint (4a) is provided with a junction member (8) with a rod dedicated to the connection of the ball joint (4a) on the arm. The jig (9) comprises a base (10) on which a support (11) for installing the box (3) on the jig (9) is mounted movable relative to the base (10) in the three directions of a mark orthonormal. A shoe (12) carrying an indexing member (13) is fixedly mounted on the base (10), the indexing member (13) being able to grip the ball (4a) installed inside the housing (3) via said junction member (8) with which it is provided. The support (11) can be selectively immobilized on the base (10) in an indexing position in which said junction member (8) is placed in the gripping position by the indexing member (13).
