The device (10a) has a profile (20a) with a displacement unit (40a) for displacing balls (30) between a work position, in which the balls are projected from the profile so as to carry a heavy load (2), and a rest position in which the balls are retracted into the profile so as to avoid carrying the load. Each ball is directly mounted into a housing (21a) of the profile by using a seal ring (50). The ring maintains the ball in position with respect to the housing, and ensures a sealing between the ball and the housing.
