System for expanding and flanging one end (42) of a metal ferrule (4) intended to form a box body, comprising a tool (6) of generally external shape of revolution relative to a working axis ( A), with a first element (1) comprising a first frustoconical outer portion (11) of first height (H1) and a second element (2) comprising a second frustoconical outer portion (21) of second height (H2), a table (3) to receive the ferrule to be deformed, with a first relative movement of the tool with respect to the table along the work axis (A), a second relative movement of the first element of the tool with respect to the second tool element along the work axis (A) and, when the first and second tool elements are brought together, i.e. against each other, the first and second frustoconical outer portions (11 , 21) are found in continuity of shape, and when the first and second tool elements are removed rt along the work axis, the ferrule can be separated from the first tool element.
