A method of EEG using light communications and comprising the steps of selecting, for an EEG, a product stored in shelving space of a commercial environment, querying a database with an identifier for the selected product and, in response, receiving price data for said product, selecting a communication frequency greater than a specified strobe speed for a lighting system (110) illuminating the commercial environment, transmitting a directive to a controller of the lighting system directing the latter to communicate the price data to a rack labeling module (130) associated with the selected product, and, in response, the controller encodes the price data into a strobe pattern of the system. 'lights and activates the pattern so as to communicate the price data to the gondola labeling module, which then decodes the price data from the strobe pattern and displays it on a screen display.
