Method and device for safely executing a web application in a web runtime environment

A method of executing a web application in a web runtime environment (e.g. a web API) running on a first device (e.g a smartphone or a laptop) comprises receiving from a second device (e.g. a multi-function printer, a scanning device or a camera) a Uniform resource Locator (URL) and a security indication. The URL enables loading of the web application (e.g. an adapted execution context) and the security indication is associated with the web application. The method further comprises determining, based on the received security indication, a set of features to be enabled during execution of the web application, and executing the web application in the web runtime environment according to the determined set of features, thereby enabling the use of the determined set of features by the web application. The method may further comprise a step of determining a checking procedure that requires a user input on the first device, based on the determined set of features. The checking procedure may require a physical interaction between the first and the second device, or checking a list of forbidden or authorized URLs.
